Adventure Coast

Florida’s Adventure Coast Water Watch (FACWW) Team is part of a statewide citizen science program located in Hernando County, Florida. Each month, youth and adult volunteers venture out and test water sample from designated sites. The data collected by our volunteers provide us with important information about our coastal and marine ecosystems. Without the support and dedication of our volunteers, this ecological insight would not be possible.

Interested in joining FACWW? Contact Brittany Hall-Scharf at bhallscharf@ufl.edu

Additional volunteer information:

  • Team trainings are conducted each summer. New volunteers and experienced volunteers are required to attend this yearly training to participate in the program.
  • Water sampling is conducted on a monthly basis. At minimum, volunteers are requested to complete one site per month for a year. Time and day of sampling is flexible.
  • Volunteers can work individually or as a team.
  • All testing supplies are provided.
  • Testing sites can be accessed by foot or boat; however, transportation to the site must be provided by the volunteer.
